AM-  Speed workout with Pete at the track again.  Plan was to run 2 miles warm-up 6 x 800 @ 2:52 with 1:30 RI then 1 easy.  After the 2nd repeat though Pete was really struggling and didn't seem to be enjoying it at all.  So changed it up to a farlek.  Did 2 x 800, 2 x 400, 2 x 200 and he liked that alot more.  More of a progression.  And it was a nice workout still the same.  We had a bit of a breeze this morning that was really frustrating him on the turns.  And a bit more water on the track to avoid.  But the temps were awesome.  Bit humid though.

Thanks Allie. Its nice to have someone to do these workouts with. Would be even better if he ran the same paces. He is fast and all. Just needs more practice with pacing at those paces.

great workout!

6 x 800 at 2:52-- how did you decide on 2:52? That is a fast pace! Heck if you did 10 x 800 at that pace it would predict a 2:52 marathon.

Looks like you got in some good speeed work. Nice job.

Yeah those are blazing 800's. McMillan's calculator has those subscribed for a 18:00-18:30 5K'er.

Mark, nice base speed for lauching into longer mararthon temp runs. Can't run fast unless you run fast. Agree with others, you have the potental for a sub 3 with that speed.

Rhett- Its from the 3:10 FIRST training plan. I know its stinking fast times. I am having a hard time hitting them so far. I will get it though.

Tim- For the training it has like 19:30 5k. Which I haven't ran one recently but I am sure I can go sub 20 easy now. 10k of 40:50 and I just PR with a 40:31 or Half marathon of 1:30:25 and I was in there last year. My plan is to train for the faster times and work on my endurance to get my BQ of 3:15 and hope everything comes together come Oct 2 at SG.

Brent- Thanks Brent sure hope that is what will happen. Not sure about the sub 3 yet. Still shooting for 3:15 first. Heck I am looking to go sub 3:30 still LOL.

Things seem to be coming together. My last 10k was really a huge confidence builder.

These are some exciting paces. Good job, really looking forward to see how SGM goes for you.
