Got out to do a run this evening.  I cant wait till I start my training so I have some direction.  Was thinking of doing a recovery run.  And just relax well didnt turn out to be much of a recovery run.  First 2 miles were feeling really good and I was enjoying the run.  With the lights now in the park when I first get there it is nice.  But I just cant watch my splits too easy.  And at times cant hear the beeps saying I just hit a mile.  So it turned out alot faster then a recovery.   So as I am debating to just slow down or what to do.  I just enjoyed the run.  As I came up to mile 4 I decided to have a good fast mile.  To see how I would feel after a nice warm up for this weeks turkey trot and picked up the pace.  And had a good mile for that one.  And ran it on the woodchips which feels alot slower.  And I felt quite good when I got done with the mile.  Then had a cooldown mile.  Splits.. 8:29, 7:59, 7:45, 7:42, 6:25, 7:56, .25 at 8:00.

You must not have needed a recovery run. Rhett might be able to shed some light on recovery runs. Nevertheless, you had a great progressive run. Look at that 6:25, WOWEE!!! You're off to a good week. Good luck and have fun on the Turkey Trot!!!

Good run, Mark. Sometimes it's nice running at night in the dark, it always feels like I'm running a lot faster.

Nice run and really nice mile there in the middle. Just keep it simple until your training starts so you will be ready to go.

Nice run Marc. Is your race Thanksgiving morning? Maybe you could get in a few 400m repeats today at 5k pace to get the legs ready to rock. I did that 2 days before my 5K and it seemed to help.

!!!!!!6:25!!!!! Holy Cow that is one fast split. Nice jog. I can't wait to see how you do on Turkey Day!!!

Bad new....Kathie is really, really sick. I am hoping she gets better in time for the race. I think this year we will just stay with our daughters and just enjoy being out running.

The Duel will have to wait!!!!

From Rhett on Tue, Nov 25, 2008 at 13:49:03

For Marc, it's just a jog. He's going to scortch that 5K!!!!

Thanks guys for all the positive vibe. I think I will do that tonight. The 400m repeats. At that same pace then. That is right where I need to be for my 5k to break 20. I haven't seen the course so not sure if it is a PR course or not. But I am tring to get in the training for it.

From Smooth on Tue, Nov 25, 2008 at 21:31:12

So how did the 400m repeats go tonight? Can't wait to hear about your Turkey trot.
