3:30 came early this morning.  And it was time to get in a early morning tempo run.  Temps were nice and cool 59 with a very slight breeze.  Goal was 1 mile easy 5 at 7:00 pace.  Felt pretty good for the first mile.  And then the work began.  It seems harder to run that early in the dark for watching my paces.  And tried to go by feel of the pace.  And came up short for a few of them due to it.  But still felt pretty good about the run.

Mile 1 8:17

Mile 2 7:01

Mile 3 7:05

Mile 4 7:16

Mile 5 7:15

Mile 6 7:09

TT 44:08  AP 7:21

Side note.  Retiring my 8a pair of shoes.  They were really worn on the right foot heel.  So tried to focus not dragging my heel on that side this run.  And run more smoothly.

great job man!

do you find that you sense that you are running faster in the dark that in daylight? I always feel like I'm flying along but it isn't quite as fast as that.

From Huans32 on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 11:14:04 from 138.64.2.76

Yep that is just how I feel. I am almost shocked to find that I was running slower. And like on this run. I decided instead of playing catch-up just to find good constant pace and hold it. But yeah it does feel like I was running faster. Yet wasn't. Oh and the shadows can make me a bit jumpie.:( Alot of fields and such right by where I run with foxes, cats, and other stuff.

That's a nice run Mark.

(wow, 3:30 seems really early. way to get it done)

From timp on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 11:44:37 from 129.188.33.26

that'll keep you running fast, that's for sure.

From Huans32 on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 12:22:52 from 138.64.2.76

Cal- Yeah to much going on after work tonight. So it ends up being quite early for the morning runs.

Tim- Yeah, that it does.

Nice job, Mark. I always get sad retiring a pair of shoes, mostly because they still look like they're in excellent condition. I have a big pile of shoes by the side of my bed.

From Huans32 on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 12:55:16 from 138.64.2.76

LOL I use to keep alot of my retired shoes too. Do you remember that pic that Lark had a wall of running shoes?? That is just crazy. But this last pair I was debating about going a bit longer on till I saw the heel.:(

From Teena on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 16:56:02 from 67.177.20.13

Nice job diehard! :)

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 18:51:18 from 71.219.96.151

That is just freakin' fast and flippin' early (like my mormon swearing???)

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 21:40:52 from 24.155.140.8

Yes, what Kelli said!

Great temperature! It's all coming together nicely.

From Kelli on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 21:48:50 from 71.219.96.151

Marc---I had to come back to see what I said!!! Glad you approve of my Mormon swearing (or maybe it is just Utah swearing??)

From MarcE on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 22:31:29 from 24.155.140.8

Kelli - Oh my heck!!! (I've only heard that one from my Utah (Mormon or otherwise) friends! :-)

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 17, 2009 at 23:01:28 from 97.117.81.161

Mark ~ THAT's an AWESOME tempo run! SOOOOO early in the dark! Glad you didn't step on a pine cone or something. You will do FANTASTIC at SGM! Are you gonna run in your new shoes the next two weeks?

From Huans32 on Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 08:33:02 from 138.64.2.76

Rhett- You know it.:)

Teena- Had to get it done early. Or was going to running it really late. I am avoiding that TM.:)

Kelli- LOL!!

Marc- Yeah the temp is great I am hoping for the same tomorrow morning for my long run too. Maybe sleep in till 4 or so though before doing it. Got to head up to Logan.

Smooth- Yep got to watch out for pine cones for sure. Expecially this late in the game. Might take the new ones out for this long run to test them out. Instead of just speed work.

With these miles you shouldn't have a problem keeping up. I'm looking forward to this year's race. I think this is the one. Hopefully our group can pull it off.
