Went down to the Park to run again.  Started around 8:30am.  And on like the 2nd lap came on to a race/time trial for the Army Reserves.  I guess they have to run this 2 mile time trail for a test.  They started a bit before me.  And so a few took off like mad while others started much slower and even a couple walkers.  So I caught up to a few stragglers and cheered them on.  As I hit their 1 mile mark there was one guy that was struggling a bit.  So I left the wood chip lane to hit the concrete to cheer him on.  Since I was making this a recovery run.  I dont really worry to much about the paces as long as it is slower.  Well this guy was as he put it.  Sucking wind and relectuntly accepted my invitation for a pacer.  Unfortunitly after another question or 2 about his goal on paces and how far he needed.  He was out of breath.  And had to stop to catch it.  So I jogged along next to him and got him going again.  He needed to do the 2 miles in 19:00 to pass the test.  And for this last mile was needing 9:45 to make it.  Well he had to stop 2 more times after that one.  Tried not to let him stop to long and just enough to catch his breath and we would take off again.  As we got to the last .2 of the run he had another guy that already ran it come back to cheer him in.  And he picked up the pace even more.  And so we got him going to the finish and just under by 20 secs.  So he passed.  I still had 2 miles or so to go so just kept going.  And it was nice when I finished my 6 miles he was actually right by there in his truck and that is when I found out he had made it.  It is great to see people getting into shape and tring to better themselfs for whatever reason it may be.   And even with running with him and a couple others I chatted with I still finished my run in 54:30.  So around a 9 min pace for the run.  Perfect recovery run.  And made another new friend on the road.   Against others telling me not to run any races between now and ToU.  I am going to be running a race tomorrow.  And it might just be my most membrable one.
