AM-  Went to bed a bit later then I wanted.  And body wanted to wake up at 3:15 so I got up for my run.  Last night it was 95 so the 76 at 3:30 was no suprise.  Goal was to do my speedwork if my legs were up for it.  And if not go for a recovery run and get some miles in.  Tried to do a few strides that just didnt have much zip to them at all.  And after a couple attempt at something resembling speed.  Made it into a recovery run.  Started feeling good after mile 4 which was good.  Since that was when I hit the first hill climb to do.  Felt good climbing it at a strong steady pace.  And then another a bit later felt good.  So at the end of it felt really good.  Legs are feeling back to normal and hopefully back to normal for Fri's race.

Smart run Mark! No sense in forcing the issue. Good luck on the 10k at Des News, should be a really fun weekend.

Mike- Yeah they legs werent ready for speedwork today. This week will be a bit off with the race being on Fri. So its working out good I think. We will see come Fri. I got to get in a 20 miler this weekend too.

Way to be smart with recovery. I suspect after the hard effort on Saturday your body is still in recovery mode and this run should help that process along. Good luck with the race on Friday. I miss not having Pioneer day off.

any specific goals for the 10k?

From Huans32 on Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 11:40:44 from 138.64.247.16

Jeff- Yeah the legs were really sore Sun. Monday was off and on with the bike ride helping alot. Yesterday my body was just tired. So today is alot better. Just not up to speed yet. But we are getting there.

Tim- Hmm yea I do have a few goals for it. Last year at this race I had my PR yet I was held back a bit on it. Did a 43:23 so I am looking to PR on this race since that is way off of what I think I can do. Shooting for a 6:45 pace so around 42:00 or so would be awesome. Had a really fast mile on the first one last year. Sub 6 I just hope to run a smart race and finish strong.

Nice pace today. I am doing the 10k on Friday as well. I usually don't sign up to do 5 and 10k's, but this one I did. I am hoping for 45 minutes. I'll look for you there! Look for Smooth and Teena, I hope to be hanging around them.

From Huans32 on Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 14:35:45 from 138.64.2.76

Cal- Oh that is for sure. I will call that tempo/speedwork. Will just need to get in a long one.:)

Kathie- Just to hot to do it any other time it seems. Well speedwork that didnt happen that is.:( I am toying with doing all my runs early like that for the summer. Working ok for now.

Bec- Sweet Bec. I will have to look for you then. I tend to run into Smooth at the starting lines alot. And always wait for her to come in. As well as Teena but she is normally just behind me.:) So we will look for you too.

WAY to get in a smart run early this morning. Yeah, save your speed for Fri. You're gonna PR. Don't trip Teena when she tries to pass you. Ha! I'm so excited to see you and Kristi.

From Teena on Wed, Jul 22, 2009 at 23:18:16 from 67.177.20.13
