AM-  Planks, walking lunges, flamingos, bridges and weak attempt at pushups.  Shoulder was still sore on the pushups so didnt push those to hard.  3 sets of each.  Hope to get in another run tonight.  Might go 5 or just stick with 4 since I plan on running 18 this weekend.

PM- Tried a different route today to have more flat miles.  And found a good route for a 5.5 loop.  Was shooting for a tempo run or at least hit around 8:00 and felt good about doing that.  Was quite hot out there compared to what I am use to around 70+.  Here is the splits...

Mile 1  8:41

Mile 2  8:06

Mile 3  8:01

Mile 4  7:56

Mile 5  8:01

Mile .54  7:25

Hey Mark, you're going to do great at Ogden. Don't let me hold you back. You are in much better running shape than you think. I'll get my speed up, slowly but surely over time.

From Rhett on Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 19:46:18 from 170.215.58.122

Are you and Teena having a competition to see who can come up with the craziest named exercises?

From DonGardinero on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 02:47:32 from 152.216.7.5

Mark...I'm going to take a break from running and the blog for a while to get my family in order.

From huans32 on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 08:27:21 from 138.64.2.76

Dale- Yeah the safest way to get your speed up is nice and slowly. You will get there man.

Rhett- LOL its just the people at the gym(trainers) you got to think for just say normal push-ups there is like 10 or so variations. So they have to get very creative.

Dale- Sorry to hear things are a bit crazy for you right now. Running should come 2nd to family for sure. Get that in order and then get back into your routine.

Thanks Mark-O. Yep, running has kept me sane, but it's taking a lot of time away from other things. Just need to get everything under control and I'll be back. I need to figure out a better way to make everything work.

From Teena on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 15:36:52 from 67.177.20.13

AWESOME job Mark!!

Come on Rhett, expand your exercise vocabulary!! :)

Actually, what I would really like to get into is the plyometrics ... but can't until the stress fracture is healed.

Great job, now what the heck is a flamingo?

From huans32 on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 17:32:17 from 138.64.2.76

Dale- Balance is something I work on all the time. If things are out of balance then something else will most definitely suffer. Keep with what your doing and find that balance of running, family time, wife time, and work etc. You will figure it out.

Teena- Yeah you will need to get more into those once your healed up. Once you think you get something down there is always another excersice to challenge you just that much more.

Kelli- LOL thanks Kelli flamingo is a simple excersice to build strengthen in your ankles, lower legs and abs. Mostly helping my ankles is why I do them. But what you do is just stand on one leg with the other lifted up and do that for 1 min and then switch legs. After you feel you got that down or for me 2 sets of eyes open. The last I am working up doing it with my eyes closed.:) So since you look like a flamingo standing on one leg its called that.

That was exactly what I was picturing! We do a version of that in Yoga.

Spring has finally arrived in Utah...glad you're getting some of those nice temps. Can we have them back in Texas when you're done? :-) (It was in the 90's yesterday)

Nice pace Mark.
