So how soon before St. George are you going to stop the strength training? I have already stopped lifting and my 20 miler on Saturday felt so much better!

From Huans32 on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 11:34:43 from 138.64.2.76

Kathie- Hmm I dont really consider this strength training. None of it is with weights. I will see how I feel tonight after I do a bike ride. I might scale it back the last week. But not much. It only takes me about 20-30 mins for this routine.

Yeah, I'll be joining Jeff's group along with my friend that ran the 20 on the course with me on Sat. Jeff's been bugging me about doing this blog thing. I finally decided to check it out.

Look forward to meeting you race day.

Mark, nicely done. I feel good about your race this year. You have put the time in. Just enjoy it, BQ or not it's going to be a blast. Looking forward to seeing you again.

From Mike Warren on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 14:19:38 from 207.50.149.221

Mark, quick question. What are you guys planning on hitting the half in? Just wondering what your strategy is? Equal halfs or neg split?

From Huans32 on Mon, Sep 14, 2009 at 16:21:03 from 138.64.2.76

Chad- Right on more the merrier.:)

Mike- We are looking at 2 different paces. One that can be found one this blog. Paul was the one that did it. And then there is cougars pacer. Which I think we are leaning towards. Let me send that one to you. k and yea it looks like a neg split.

From allie on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 13:10:57 from 129.123.34.22

are you running TOU?

From Huans32 on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 13:13:22 from 138.64.2.76

Nope. But will be up there in Logan that day. So will be cheering at the sidelines.:)

I checked out Paul's St. George Marathon map on the course tool and essentially it is the same as cougars if you look at the half marathon splits. It seems the only small differences are in the actual paces by mile. I don't know that I can run actual paces by mile anyway so I think 1:39 and 1:36 halfs are about what I am shooting for. I will probably put a copy of cougars chart on my wrist just as a guide. Generally, I know what I have to do.

Mark, I'm with Kathie. I think it is time to stop stregth training if you want a chance at that BQ.

From jeffc on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 20:11:07 from 167.207.128.101

Rhett and Kathie..I agree with the strength training being cut out but do you think it is okay to continue with the core training or should that be cut out as well by this point? Not that I do a lot of core training, just having a random thought:)

From Kathie on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 20:40:13 from 207.155.176.10

I have not cut out the core training yet, not sure when I will.

From MarcE on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 22:44:43 from 24.155.140.8

Hey Mark, I finally looked at Cougar's pace chart. I'm willing to go with his splits...It should be fun!!
