In the morning did a light workout of the normal stuff.  When I got home did one mile warm up and then was going to hit the MP of 8:00 for next 2.  Went pretty well I guess.  Yet the 2 were a bit faster then I needed but still good.

Well I am finally getting around to doing my report again.  First time it didnt save so here we go again.  My goals were to try and run a 8:00 split for this race.  Which seemed around where I am now with my recovery.  I have just started do more speed in my runs but not much on miles.  So goal one was to finish it around 3:30 at a 8:00 running it with a predictor.   Which means working on running set paces per miles.  Problem was that when we were going to bed I got a phone call from my ex saying that my daughter was complaining about pain in her tummy.  So she was runner her to emergency.  That was at 8ish 45 mins later we get another call saying she is going to Primary childrens hospital with a possible need to take out her appendix.  At 10:30 and in the middle of a good sleep I get another one saying she was going to be in surgery at 7am.  Which was the same time as the race start.  So with that on my mind I didnt get much sleep until the alarm went off.  We made it to the start at 5ish and met up with some forumites and Walter from the blog.   We waited a bit and then headed up to the start.  It is always so great to met with all running friends.  And really makes racing that much better.  We made our way up to the start and things went well.  I heard that Smooth decided to run the race and went looking for her.  Ran into alot of other people but no Smooth.  Was able to time the PoP right and was ready to go at the gun starting back with the 8:00 pace flags.  Was able to meet up with Allie for a sec and then RivertonPaul ran into me and introduced me to Mattk.  Was great to met him final too.

So here we go...  The race started just a few mins off of 7:00am and we were off.  Goal was to take first mile slow and then stick to the paces as best I could till the end.  And also work on my drinking on the run.  Last year this really seemed to be a problem for me and lost alot of energy tring to catch back up with Fly and JeffC that I ran it with.  So things were going great.  The pace was feeling great for the first few miles coming down the canyon.  And then started to speed up coming into the flater area before the lake.  And it start to thin out more here.  Which was nice yet alot more people then last year.  The rolling hills came and went rather fast and felt really good.  I remember last year compared to this one and it was feeling alot better.  Slower but better.  I just kept focusing on my paces and chatting with runners I would run with from mile to mile.  The half came at 1:44 and feeling good.  I was a wasnt as concerned this year with the hill since I had a good plan with following the predictor.  And as I was going up the hill the pace was slipping yet by the end of the mile I was right back on pace and was quite happy that I was running it like that.  Miles 15 I had a issue with getting fluids.  They werent as organized as I got there.  And I dont think they even had someone giving out the powerade I wanted till after I got past them.  But wasnt going to run back to get it.  So skipped it.  With the dam coming up the more I was feeling I was going to make it through it this year without the cramps.  And was feeling good.  But as I crossed over the damn the trouble began.  Not sure if it was that I lost my bag with my S-caps back at mile 9 when I took them last or that I just was starting to him my limit with my limited training.  But it started getting rough and started cramping around 21.  And then to add to my problems I slot satilite reception at 21.36 and didnt regain it till 23.80ish.  I fought off some calve cramping for a while till around 23-4 ish where Pron8r pasted me when my hammies cramped up.  I stretched them out and walked a few steps and was able to run again.  It wasnt till right before Grant and 1 mile to go that I had to walk again with calve cramps right infront of the EMT cart.  Boy were they on me and had to wave them off saying I was alright and was going to make it.:)  Right after that aid station that was just a few steps away.  I ran into one of my running buddies from Teena's Gumpchumps Mike.  We were right on track for running a 3:40 I told him if we could keep it up.  He was shocked to her that.  Since is best marathon to date was a 3:58.  It was great to run it in with him the last bit.  Him helping me at time to keep going and me him.  As we got to the shoot I told him it was time to kick it and he pulled down and took off finish I am sure right at 3:39 or just barely 40.  It was awesome.

My wife was very excited to see my at the end and cheered me in.  She had some great news to tell me.  She was going to recieve some hardware!!!  She had taken 2nd place in her division so we went out there and I took a couple pictures for her.  I am so proud of her.  She was training for a 1:47 she found out 1-2 before the race.  And was thinking she was training for a 1:45.  And ended up running a 1:40 which was a huge 5 min PR!!  She did awesome.  So after getting her hardware we took off to get back to the motel and off to the hospital.  Sounds like my daughter was finished with her surgery about the same time that I finished the race.  I forgoed waiting around for everyone and took off to see her.  She was such a trooper and I was so happy to see that everything went well.  I gave her my medal from the race told her she deserved it more then me for what she just went through.  After only a couple hours I had to go get some sleep and eat something.  My body felt good but I was just so tired and hot.  I could only imagine what everyone after my finish time must be of gone through.  Which later I heard was rough.  I was able to get some sleep that Sat night and head up again for a few hours Sun morning.  She was scheduled to leave on Sun but they decided to keep her another night.  So I was grateful that I was able to stay Sun night with her.  She was such a trooper and is doing fine.  Her tummy had alot of puss and infection in it and lucky they caught it before it burst.  So she is recovering very well and went home Monday just before noon.

So back to the race and the results.  Here are the details of it all.  The first number is the predictor time and the 2nd is the actual time.
